OUR PARTICIPATON POLICY: Welcome to our 24nd season! We are asking singers to commit to singing October Pops, Holiday Pops, Handel: Messiah, and Mozart Requiem. We expect members to sing all productions if possible. It is necessary to fulfill the attendance requirements for each of these productions. You will have an option to indicate interest in participating in Puccini’s Turandot (60 singers needed). Rehearsals are generally led by Chorus Director, Dr. Jon O. Carlson. Close to the performance, the Orchestra Director leads.
A NEW POLICY instituted last year requires that chorus memebers buy their own music. JSC will only provide music in case of hardship; you must communicate this in advance to the Chorus Manager. Listed prices are retail, but bulkorders through JSO library are discounted, thus saving you money. Arrive early at first rehearsals of each production to buy music.
IF YOU NEED TO MISS A REHEARSAL: Please notify the Chorus Manager in writing or by Email.
DRESS CODE: Men will wear tuxedos, black socks, shoes, ties, cummerbunds. Women will wear long black dresses or skirts (no greater that 7” from the floor in stocking feet) with black blouses, which should have modest necklines and (at least) elbow length sleeves. Shoulders should be covered. No excessive beading or glitter. Black shoes, dark stockings, small non-flashy jewelry, belt buckles and hair ornaments.
AUDITONS FOR NEW SINGERS: 17 May, 2008 at JU by appointment. Call JSO office (354-5479 ext. 0 or 221) for details, or refer singers to our website at www.jaxsymphonychorus.org where they can register online.
PLEASE NOTE that during the season we will sometimes rehearse music much ahead of the actual performance, and not necessarily in calendar sequence. Rehearsals are usually 2.5 hours, although a few rehearsals are 3 hours as indicated. Choral warm-ups begin at time listed in parentheses.

Holiday Pops, music & cost TBA. Morihiko Nakahara, director. Music will be available through JSO at first rehearsals.Selections are borrow only. NO CUTS.
Handel: Messiah, Morihiko Nakahara, director . NOTE: We continue to use the Van Camp edition of Messiah, which we have used for several years, published by Lorenz, $9. It will be available through JSO. NO CUTS.
Puccini: Turandot, Fabio Mechetti, director. (60 singers plus some alternates) Full piano/vocal score , or chorus only score. cost TBA. Music available through JSO: chorus only score-$25; full piano/vocal score-$30. Two cuts only from asterisked fall dates. One cut only from asterisked January dates.
Mozart: Requiem, Fabio Mechetti, director. Music editions and cost TBA. Two cuts only from asterisked dates for this production.
